There was lots of beach and boating when we headed to Rhoscolyn in August. |
A few photos from Emma's eighteenth. |

Nuuk sits at the mouth of the 100 mile long Nuuk Fjord. We went on a fishing trip to Qooqqut, which is about a fifth of the way up. The old settlement is abandoned now, but cabins there are used in the summer, and there is a restaurant that will cook your catch. |

Our second base was Ilulissat, 220 miles north of the Arctic Circle on the West Coast. It's Greenland's third largest town with 4,500 people and is known for its icebergs. |
|
We did a hike along the spectacular Ilulissat Icefjord, and did a boat trip 50 miles north up the coast, to the very active Eqi Glacier. |
Oqaatsut is a small village of around 30 people, it is a 13 mile hike along the coast north of Ilulissat. There is nothing except scenery between the two settlements; we went with a guide who had a satellite phone! |

A highlight of the week was taking a boat tour around the huge icebergs stranded on the terminal moraine at the mouth of the Ilulissat Icefjord. This trip was fogged off earlier in the visit, and it was after 11.00pm by the time we got to do it, but of course with the midnight sun it didn't really matter. |

We didn't plan on visiting Kangerlussuaq at all, but ended up flying to it twice on what was supposed to be our return day, and being put up in barracks there by Air Greenland. Our internal flight couldn't land at Nuuk due to fog, and had to fly to Kangerlussuaq to refuel. We made it back to Nuuk, but just missed our connecting plane back to Copenhagen, so were flown back again for the night. |

Stargazing and air rifles were two of our activities during our April trip to Rhoscolyn. |
Kirstie and me went to the Luminous light show by Luxmuralis at St Paul's Cathedral with Teresita and Sophie. The images are inspired by the cathedral's history, and are constantly moving and changing. |
When William and me went to Rhoscolyn in January there was no snow there or in London, but there was plenty inbetween. We had a scenic diversion via Runcorn due to a stuck point between Crewe and Chester. |
