Watermen's Company

Our trip was timed to coincide with the installation of my Dad as Master of the Company of Watermen and Lightermen. This 450 year old institution was set up essentially as the regulatory body for people working on the tidal River Thames. These days it remains responsible for apprenticeship and licensing regulations on the river, and has an active role in promoting rowing.
